Career Highlights

In 2000, best finish was a tie for 19th at the Wegmans Rochester International.

In 1999, best finish was a tie for 16th at the Wegmans Rochester International; recorded her third LPGA career hole-in-one during the first round of the Sara Lee Classic.

In 1998, finished fourth at the LPGA Corning Classic for her best finish of the season; earned a career-low 71.82 scoring average; and fired a career-low 64 during the opening round of the JAL Big Apple Classic, where she tied for ninth.

In 1997, captured her fourth career title at the Rochester International.

In 1996, tied for second at the Weetabix Women’s British Open and tied for third at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship.

In 1995, recorded her second LPGA career hole-in-one during the third round of the McCall’s LPGA Classic at Stratton Mountain, where she posted a season-best tie for 18th.

In 1994, top finish was a tie for 16th at the Children’s Medical Center LPGA Classic.

In 1993, best finish was a tie for 16th at the Las Vegas LPGA at Canyon Gate.

In 1987, recorded a fourth-place finish at both the Standard Register Turquoise Classic, where she made the first hole-in-one of her LPGA career, and the Kyocera Inamori Golf Classic.

In 1986, best finish was a tie for sixth at the LPGA National Pro-Am.

In 1985, won her first career title at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic and earned LPGA Rookie of the Year.


Hammel’s junior credits include victories at the 1979 PGA Junior, 1979 Junior Orange Bowl, 1979 USGA Junior and 1979 Illinois Junior. She was a quarterfinalist at the 1983 Public Links and was the low amateur at the 1983 Florida Women’s Open. Hammel won the 1983 NCAA individual championship, and her team won the title in 1984. Hammel  was a 1983 and 1984 All-American and a member of the 1984 U.S. Curtis Cup Team.
