Miss Betsy Rawls won her fourth Women's Open Championship with a score of 292 at the Worcester Country Club, Worcester, Mass. Worcester was the site of the men's Open Championship in 1925, and was the first club to entertain the two Open Championships.

Miss Rawls' rounds of 76-73-68-75 gave her a one-stroke advantage over Miss Joyce Ziske, of Waterford, Wis., who posted 75-74-71-73—293. Miss Ziske moved into a two-stroke lead over Miss Rawls at the 63-hole mark, but Miss Rawls' 35 on the final nine gave her the edge.

Miss Ziske needed a par 4 on the final hole to tie, but took a 5. Her second shot went over the green and she subsequently missed a four-foot putt. Miss Mickey Wright, the Champion in 1958 and 1959, set a fast pace as she led throughout the first three rounds with 71-71-75; she slipped to 82 in the final round for a 299 total. This put her in fifth place behind Mrs. Marlene Bauer Hagge and Miss Mary Lena Faulk, who were tied for third at 298.

Miss Judy Torluemke, 15 years old, of St. Louis, Mo., was the youngest player in history to win low amateur honors, with 326. The prize money was $7,200. Miss Rawls won $1,800.
