Nearly became the first Amateur in 35 years to win a LPGA Tour event, coming up one stroke short at the ShopRite Classic in Atlantic City, N.J., on June 20. . . Teamed with fellow USA Curtis Cupper Jane Park to bring the United States a victory at the 2003 Spirit International. . . Represented the USA at the 2002 and 2003 Junior Solheim Cups ... Made the cut at both the LPGA’s Asahi Ryokuken International Championship and the Wegmans Rochester in 2003. . . Honored as the 2003 American Junior Golf Association’s Female Player of the Year. . . Qualified for the 2003 U.S. Women’s Open, but did not make the cut. . . Was the low Amateur at the 2004 U.S. Women’s Open sectional qualifier at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. . . Among her junior golf victories are the 2003 and 2004 Heather Farr Classic, the 2004 Kathy Whitworth Invitational, the 2003 Rolex Girls Junior Championship, and the 2003 AJGA Polo Championship. . . Daughter of a commercial airlines pilot, Paula is superstitious - she must play with pink tees (her normal golf bag is pink) and she has to mark her ball with a 1965 quarter coin.
