Player Diary :
Jennifer Rosales

Jennifer Rosales is a graduate of the University of Southern California and has been on the LPGA Tour since 2000.  Her first victory came this year at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez.

Her record in the U.S. Open consists of one top 10 in 2002, when she finished tied for seventh, and two top 25s -- a tie for 12th in her first Open in 2000 and a tie for 13th last year. After seeing her first round delayed until Friday, she completed it at 1-under 70.

Overall I'm happy with the way I played; I saved a lot of shots in the first round.  I got a big lift on Thursday, before they called it a night, with an eagle on the 14th hole. It moved me to 2 under. But we had to stop after the 15th and come back this morning to finish the round.

Going to bed last night, I was thinking how difficult the finish, 16 through 18, was and how I needed to just got hit the fairways on both 16 and 18 to hit the green. That was my game plan in the morning.  I was successful on the 16th with a par, but short of the green on the 18th and could not get up and down when my 12-foot putt missed on the left side.

The course obviously played a little different after the rain, the greens were holding a little bit and the fairways were softer; generally the course just got softer.  In the early part of my round the ball rolled a little bit more on my drives, but once it rained that was no longer the case.

I'm just looking forward to today's [second] round and feel like I put myself in a good place going into the second round.
