Christina Kim shot 2-over 75 in Saturday’s third round. She had to first complete her second round after play had been suspended due to darkness on Friday. Heading into the final round, she’s 5-over 224. She shared her thoughts with www.uswomensopen.com.
Yesterday there was just a lot of stuff going on. They sent us out, they took us in, sent us back out and they stopped us. There was just a lot of stuff going on and on top of it being the day they decide the top 60 and ties or whoever is within 10 shots of the lead, I scrambled my backside off to stay at plus three yesterday. The last six holes that I had to play were just an absolute nightmare.
Because there were a lot of memories where I missed cut in this event the last several years which has been a real disappointment because I don’t necessarily score the way that I play. But I was satisfied that I made the cut yesterday. There are so many nerves and so many things going on this week so I was pretty happy with that.
Today was just dealing with a lot. There was an awesome amount of drizzle coming down, there were people that were having a couple [adult] beverages, but by the time you’re getting close to the end of the round, they’re making little smart aleck remarks. Unintentionally, of course.
The fact that it took us five and a half hours to play was quite a test considering that I was one of the last groups to finish yesterday and I was off not super early but it was one of those things where tee times were up in the air until it was like 35 minutes before the first group went off.
I tried to guesstimate based upon counting shear numbers. I thought I would be like the sixth or seventh group out, but again you never know sometimes they go based off score, sometimes first in, last out, you know, things like that. It was just too many factors to have to deal with. It was just kind of ‘argghh’ for the brain but I’m just looking forward to tomorrow.
It’s supposed to be great weather. I think I battled quite well today. All things considered. The gusts were up to probably 20 miles an hour out there. And it is a U.S. Open course so you’re sitting there and soiling your pants, so I think did I pretty well out there today.
Tonight I will do what I did last night, come home, crash, bath and bed.
I’m just looking forward to seeing who is going to be crowned the U.S. Open Women’s Open champion. There are a lot of young players that are way at the top of the leader board right now and it’s a little disappointing I’m not there, but it’s still a thrill to watch. You get to see who is going to stand up there next to Tiger, since he won the [U.S.] Open. But there’s just so many good players out there just playing so great and it’s going to be awesome to watch. I’m just looking forward to interacting with the crowds and just anticipating record numbers out there. |
