Started playing golf at the age of 10. Credits her parents as the individuals most influencing her career. In 2006, started the Alena Sharp Charity Classic, which annually benefits The Alzheimer’s Society of Brant-Hamilton-Halton. In 2008, named the ambassador for RCGA Golf For the Cure program. Hobbies include inline skating, movies and music. A standout amateur in Canada, Sharp was a two-time winner of the Ontario Junior Championship (1997-98) and captured the 1999 Ontario Ladies Championship, as well as the 1999 Canadian Junior Championship. She was also a winner of the Toronto Star Amateur Championship in 2000 and 2003. At New Mexico State University (NMSU), Sharp won the 2000 Big West Conference Championship, 2002 NMSU Invitational and the 2002 and 2003 Sun Belt Conference Championship. She was Sun Belt Conference Female Athlete of the Year and an NCAA All-American First-Team selection in 2003. She was also honored with the 2003 Edith Cummings Munson Award, given to an individual who excelled on the golf course and in the classroom.

* In 2008, best finish was a tie for 15th at the Corona Championship.

* In 2007, recorded a career-best seventh-place finish at the Honda LPGA Thailand 2007; carded a career-low 63 during the second round of the LPGA Corning Classic.

* In 2006, best finish was a tie for 17th at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill.

* In 2005, competed in 16 events on the Futures Tour, where she recorded three top-10 finishes; returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she tied for 16th to earn exempt status for the 2006 LPGA season.

* In 2004, won the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship on the BMO Financial Group Canadian Women’s Tour and five tournaments on the West Coast Ladies Golf Tour; posted one top-10 finish on the Futures Tour; tied for 52nd at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 2005 LPGA season.
