Started playing golf at the age of 10. Credits her parents and family as the individuals most influencing her career. After winning the 2008 HypoVereinsbank Ladies German Open presented by Audi on the LET, she donated her first-place earnings to the victims of the earthquake in China’s Sichuan province. Yang won the 2006 ANZ Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour (LET) as an amateur to become the youngest winner ever on the LET at 16 years, 9 months, 18 days. She was offered a special exemption to join the LET at the age of 17 and became the youngest member. Yang was also the youngest to win the Queensland Amateur Championship in 2005 and finished second at the 2006 Australian Junior Championship.

* In 2008, recorded a career-best tie for ninth at the Hana Bank KOLON Championship 2008; competed on the Ladies European Tour (LET), winning the HypoVereinsbank Ladies German Open presented by Audi and the Scandinavian TPC hosted by Annika. Carded eight additional top-10 finishes and ended the year ranked fourth on the LET New Star Money List; returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she finished runner-up to earn Priority List Category 11 for the 2009 LPGA season.

* In 2007, competed on the LET and recorded five top-20 finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the S4/C Wales Ladies Championship; tied for 54th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 2008 LPGA season.
