She is the daughter of Dr. Museok Song and Jeeyeon Koong. She is an Ann Arbor, Mich., native, but resides in Daejon, Korea.
Qualified for U.S. Women’s Open at Santa Cruz (145). Song, who has dual citizenship between America and South Korea, attended Taejon Christian International School in Daejeon, Korea (a city two hours south of Seoul). She played on South Korea’s National Team and was part of its second-place showing in the Hoshim Cup. In 2008, before enrolling at USC, she was runner-up at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. She also played in the 2008 U.S. Women’s Open and in the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur. She had a standout 2007 as an amateur. She tied for the low amateur at the 2007 Women’s Open, was a quarterfinalist at the 2007 U.S. Women’s Amateur and finished 11th at the KB Star Tour Grand Final, a Korean LPGA tournament. Song, who turned in numerous top-10 finishes at various amateur and junior competitions in 2005 and 2006, competed and qualified for match play at the 2007 U.S. Girls’ Junior, competed at the 2006 Asia Pacific Junior Championship and the 2006 Korea Women’s Open and tied for second at the 2006 Korean Women’s Amateur. She also played soccer for her high school team as a forward/striker.
