Started playing golf at the age of 11. Credits her mother as the individual most influencing her career. Hobbies include snowboarding. Qualified for the Tour after winning the 2006 KOLON-Hana Bank Championship and was offered exempt status for the 2007 season. Hong won the Korea Women’s Amateur Championship and was a member of the Korean National Team in 2001 and 2002.

* In 2008 best finish was a tie for fourth at the Evian Masters, where she tied her career-low 67 in the final round.

* In 2007, best finish was a tie for sixth at The Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions, where she tied her career-low 67 in the second round; first carded a 67 in the first round of the Evian Masters.

* In 2006, as a member of the Korea LPGA (KLPGA), won the KOLON-Hana Bank Championship, becoming the 15th non-LPGA member in history to win an LPGA event; won the SK EnClean-Solux Invitational and finished second in the ADT-CAPS Invitational, both events on the KLPGA.
