Started playing golf at the age of nine. Credits Takako Kiyomoto and Chris Walkey as the individuals most influencing her career. Enjoys listening to music, reading books and shopping. Qualified for the Tour on her first attempt. As an amateur, Oyama won the 1994 Japan Women’s Amateur, the Japan Women’s Amateur Match Play in 1997 and 1999 and the Japan Women’s College Championship in 1999. Won 20 other titles.

* In 2008, won her 12th international event on the LPGA of Japan (JLPGA) at the Masters GC Ladies; tied for fourth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn Priority List Category 11 for the 2009 LPGA season.

* In 2001-07, competed on the JLPGA with 11 victories, including five in 2006 when she led the JLPGA Money List.

For the first time in six years, Yuri Fudo was not the top women’s golfer in Japan, Oyama claimed the title by finishing ¥66 million ahead of her nearest rival, Mijeong Jeon of South Korea. Sakura Yokomine was third, while Fudo fell to 14th. Oyama was also player of the year in 2006, winning three times the Fujisankei Ladies, the Salonpas World Ladies and the Crystal Gayser Ladies. She has a total of nine victories in Japan.

In 2007 won the Nichirei PGM Ladies just last week, her first victory since the Yonex Ladies Open last August. The previous week she was 2nd in the Suntory Ladies.
