Player Notes:

Started playing golf at the age of six. Credits her parents, Tony Kao (her first coach in Taiwan) and Ernie Huang (her U.S. host and mentor since 2001) as the individuals most influencing her career. Has one brother and one sister. Tseng had a well-decorated amateur career that included four wins in the United States and 15 international victories. She was the top-ranked amateur in Taiwan from 2004-06. She won the 2003 Callaway Junior Golf Championship and finished runner-up in 2004. She won the 2004 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship and was a semifinalist in 2005. Tseng won the 2005 North and South Women’s Amateur Championship by defeating Morgan Pressel in the final match, and also won the 2005 Arizona Silver Belle Championship. She also won the Asia Pacific Junior Championship in 2003-05.

* In 2008, secured the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award at the ADT Championship - the final event where points could be earned - defeating Na Yeon Choi by 267 points; recorded 10 top-eightbecame a Rolex First-Time Winner at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola, where she defeated Maria Hjorth in a four-hole, sudden-death playoff; carded a career-low 64 in the second round of both the Ginn OPEN and CN Canadian Women’s Open, where she finished third; crossed the $1 million mark in season and career earnings with a runner-up finish at the LPGA State Farm Classic, where she lost to Ji Young Oh in a one-hole, sudden death playoff; led the Tour with 388 birdies.

* In 2007, turned professional in January and competed on the Asian Golf Tour, where she won the DLF Women’s Indian Open; also competed on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour, where she won the CN Canadian Women’s Tour at Vancouver Golf Club and tied for sixth at the CN Canadian Women’s Open; finished sixth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 2008 LPGA season.
