Zhang will make her first appearance in the U.S. Women's Open after sharing medalist honors at the Galveston (Texas) Country Club qualifier on April 20. The 24-year-old, who has bounced between the LPGA Tour of China, Epson Tour and Annika Women's All-Pro Tour, posted 3-under-par 141 to tie LPGA Tour/Epson Tour player Brianna Do, garnering one of the two available spots. While Zhang has yet to produce a professional victory, she did finish second in the 2021 CTBC Zhuhai Challenge on the CLPGA.
