Kaleiya Romero, the older sister of current world No. 1 amateur Kiara Romero, earned her first U.S. Women's Open start by shooting 5-under 139 at Arizona Country Club, in Phoenix, on April 27. Kaleiya was a first alternate for the 2024 championship. This past year, Romero was a graduate assistant at the University of Oregon, where Kiara just completed her junior season. Prior to that, she competed for Pepperdine University. She turned professional earlier this season and competes on the Epson Tour. Kaleiya qualified for the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur. She also competed in the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur. She is a past West Coast Conference individual champion and was a four-time All-WCC, first-team selection. She has made the cut in all four of her Epson Tour events in 2026, including a tie for fifth in the IOA Golf Classic in mid-March. In April, she caddied for Kiara in the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
