The Wake Forest University sophomore and member of the inaugural U.S. National Junior Team in 2024 qualified for her second U.S. Women's Open by posting 4-under-par 140 at Rolling Hills Country Club, in Monroe, N.C., on April 28. Kovelesky, a Boca Raton, Fla., resident, edged out teammate Macy Pate in a playoff to garner the second and final spot. The talented 20-year-old also is a member of the Elite Amateur Program, which is part of the USGA's U.S. National Development Program. As a freshman in 2024-25, Kovelesky won the Lady Bulldog Invitational en route to earning honorable-mention All-America honors. Prior to arriving at Wake, she won the 94th Florida Women's Amateur and was named the Florida State Golf Association's Girls Junior Player of the Year for the 2023 season. Earlier this year, she was invited to participate in an informal practice session for the 2026 Curtis Cup Match. She finished solo third in the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and tied for 17th in the 2026 Augusta National Women's Amateur. To start the 2025-26 season, she won the Annika Intercollegiate Presented by 3M and was the runner-up in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Last summer, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Girls' Junior. Last spring, she finished solo third in the NCAA Lubbock (Texas) Regional. As part of the U.S. National Junior Team in 2024, she participated in a friendly match against Australia held at SentryWorld, in Stevens Point, Wis. Kovelesky was the youngest competitor in the 2021 U.S. Women's Open at The Olympic Club and led the field in driving distance through the first two rounds. She missed the cut.
