The Slovenian returns to the U.S. Women's Open for a second time after tying for 44th two years ago. Babnik survived a 2-for-1 playoff against Nicole Garcia, of South Africa, for the third and final spot from the Germany qualifier. Five years ago, Babnik won The R&A Girls Junior Amateur Championship at Panmure. A year later at 16, she joined the Ladies European Tour. And at 18 in 2021, she posted a pair of victories, the Jobra Ladies Open and the Aramco Team Series--Jeddah. At the age of 12 in 2016, Babnik played in her first professional event on the LET Access Series in Belgium, making the cut. Her first LET event came in 2019 at the Czech Ladies Open. She also represented Europe in the 2019 Junior Solheim Cup and Continental Europe in the 2019 Junior Vagliano Trophy. She represented Slovenia in the 2018 Mediterranean Games.
