Qualifier: Shot 71-70 at Nexhelet Golf Club in Belgium on May 29
The former Clemson University standout will be making her U.S. Women's Open debut after shooting 3-under 141 at a 36-hole qualifier in Belgium. Hewson represented Great Britain & Ireland in a pair of Curtis Cup Matches (2016 and 2018), and in 2019 the Englishwoman won the European Ladies Amateur, which earned her a spot in the AIG Women's British Open at Woburn Golf Club, just 30 minutes from her home. She also represented England in the 2016 Women's World Amateur Team Championship. Hewson played at Clemson from 2015-19, winning a pair of tournaments as a freshman (three overall) and by the time she left the Atlantic Coast Conference school she held 49 school records. Hewson turned professional in 2019 and has won twice, including the 2020 Investec South African Women's Open on the Ladies European Tour. During COVID-19, she won the Rose Ladies Series Grand Final, a series sponsored by 2013 U.S. Open champion Justin Rose and his wife ahead of Solheim Cup veterans Georgia Hall and Charley Hull.
