Nomura will play in her seventh U.S. Women's Open after earning medalist honors in a 36-hole qualifier at Starmount Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., shooting 13-under-par 131. She owns six worldwide professional wins, including three on the LPGA Tour. Her last came in the 2017 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in 2017. She edged Lydia Ko by three strokes to capture the 2016 ISPS Handa Australian Women's Open, and later that year she captured the LPGA Swinging Skirts. Although born in Japan to a Korean mother and Japanese father, Nomura spent a majority of her childhood living in Seoul in the Republic of Korea. In 2011, she chose to play under the Japanese flag. She represented Japan in the 2016 International Crown.
