Qualifier: Shot 69-70--139 at Shannopin Country Club, in Pittsburgh, Pa., on May 6
The Englishwoman will make her U.S. Women's Open debut after snagging the lone spot at the Shannopin Country Club qualifier, in Pittsburgh, Pa., carding 5-under-par 139. McGinty turned professional in December of 2024 after earning her LPGA Tour card at the Q-Series. Prior to that, she starred at three different colleges, first at Kent State, then Oklahoma State and later Ohio State. At Kent State, she won the Mid-America Conference title in 2021, the same year she was named the conference's Freshman of the Year and Golfer of the Year, before following her coach to Stillwater, Okla. She spent one season at Oklahoma State before playing her final two years at Ohio State. McGinty represented Great Britain & Ireland in the 2021 and 2022 Curtis Cup Matches in Wales and Merion Golf Club, respectively. She also represented England in the Women's World Amateur Team Championship in 2022 and 2023, and was on the International Team for the 2023 Palmer Cup. This will be her first major championship as a pro; she missed the cut in the 2022 AIG Women's British Open.
