Qualifier: Shot 70-70--140 at Essex County Country Club, in West Orange, N.J., on May 11
Five years after her last appearance, Kim is back in the U.S. Women's Open, this time as a professional. Kim survived a 3-for-1 playoff at Essex County Country Club, in West Orange, N.J., eventually beating out fellow professionals Rose Zhang and Laney Frye for the spot. All three had posted 2-under-par 140 over 36 holes. Kim enjoyed a highly decorated junior/amateur career that included a semifinal showing in the 2018 U.S. Girls' Junior at Poppy Hills and representing her country in the 2016 Junior Ryder Cup and 2017 Junior Solheim Cup. Although born in Albuquerque, N.M., Kim spent most of her childhood in Chapel Hill, N.C., but chose to attend nearby Duke over the University of North Carolina. In the spring of 2019, she helped the Blue Devils to their seventh NCAA title. She also qualified for three U.S. Women's Opens as an amateur, including a tie for 12th in 2019 at the Country Club of Charleston when she opened with a 66. In 2021, she won the Atlantic Coast Conference title, the North and South Women's Amateur at Pinehurst, and helped the USA defeat Great Britain & Ireland in the rescheduled Curtis Cup Match at Conwy Golf Club, in Wales. The Match was pushed back a year due to COVID-19. She turned professional shortly thereafter and has since claimed four titles on the Epson Tour, three coming in 2025. She currently is competing on the LPGA Tour.
