The five-time major champion will tee it up for a 12th time in a U.S. Women's Open, but her first since 2016 at CordeValle. Tseng, who owns 27 worldwide victories, survived a 5-for-1 playoff at the Arizona Country Club qualifier in Phoenix. Tseng has struggled in recent years, and has not won a tournament in 14 years. Her last LPGA Tour victory, her t2th of her career, came in the 2012 Kia Classic in San Diego. Tseng burst onto the scene as a young teen, winning the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links over Michelle Wie.  She also won the 2005 North & South Women's Amateur at Pinehurst. When she turned pro in 2007, her winning ways continued as she claimed five major titles over the next five seasons, starting with the 2008 McDonald's LPGA Championship (now KPMG Women's PGA). In 2011, she won both the Women's PGA and Ricoh British Women's Open. But her best finish in 11 previous U.S. Women's Opens was a tie for 10th in 2010 at Oakmont Country Club. Tseng recently switched to putting left-handed to combat her issues on the greens. Tseng represented Chinese Taipei in the Women's World Amateur Team Championship in 2004 and 2006, and the International Crown in 2014 and 2016.
