Kim broke through for her first major championship in 2014 at the Evian Championship by edging Karrie Webb by one stroke. Kim's first worldwide win came as an amateur on the LPGA Tour of Korea at the 2012 Lotte Mart Women's Open. She now owns 23 worldwide victories, 14 of which have come on the KLPGA. In March, Kim defeated Lilia Vu in a sudden-death playoff to capture the Ford Championship Presented by Wild Horse Pass. It was her seventh LPGA Tour victory. Kim took up membership on the LPGA Tour following her Evian victory. In the 2018 U.S. Women's Open at Shoal Creek, she lost a four-hole playoff (two extra holes) to Ariya Jutanugarn.
