The former World No. 1 will play in her 10th U.S. Women's Open after sharing runner-up honors in 2023 at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Shin and Charley Hull finished three strokes behind Allisen Corpuz. In 2010 at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club, the winner of 64 worldwide events, including a pair of Ricoh Women's British Opens (2008, 2012), tied for fifth. Shin owns 11 LPGA Tour victories, the last coming in the 2013 ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open. In 2009, Shin was named the LPGA Tour's Rookie of the Year after she led the money list and posted three victories. The Golf Writers Association of America voted her its 2009 Player of the Year. In 2007, she captured 10 of the 19 Korean LPGA events to establish a single-season record. As a high school student in 2005, she captured the KLPGA's SK Enclean Invitational before turning professional later that year. In 2018, she was named the Japan LPGA Tour's Player of the Year, an honor she collected twice on the KLPGA.
