Kang is set to make her seventh U.S. Women's Open start and first since 2019. after sharing medalist honors with fellow LPGA Tour player and countrywoman Jenny Shin at a 36-hole qualifier held at Echo Lake C.C. in Westfield, N.J. The Korean owns one professional victory, which came 15 years ago on the Futures Tour (now Epson Tour) at the Greater Richmond Duramed Futures Classic. While born in Seoul, Kang moved to New Zealand and then to Australia to better enhance her golf future. She won the 2007 Australian Girls Amateur and was second in the Australian Women's Amateur that same year. She also received a sponsor's exemption into the ANZ Ladies Masters, where she was the low amateur. She turned professional later that year and eventually landed on the LPGA Tour for the 2009 season. Her best major-championship finish is a share of fifth in the 2013 Chevron Championship.
