Madsen became the first player from Denmark to register an LPGA Tour victory when she defeated Xiyu Lin in a playoff at the 2022 Honda LPGA Thailand. She drained a 10-foot eagle putt on the second extra hole. A couple of weeks later, she lost a playoff to Thai teen Atthaya Thitikul at the JTBC Classic presented by Barbasol at Aviara Golf Club in suburban San Diego.. Prior to joining the LPGA Tour, Madsen enjoyed success on the Symetra Tour (now Epson Tour), winning three times in 2017 to become the 12th player in history to earn an in-season promotion to the LPGA Tour. She also won the 2016 Tipsport Golf Masters on the Ladies European Tour. Madsen played one semester at the University of South Carolina, winning one tournament, before deciding to turn professional in the fall of 2015. A year later, she represented Denmark in the Summer Olympics, tying for 13th. She also twice represented Denmark in the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship (2012, 2014). She also played on the 2021 European Solheim Cup Team. This will be her seventh U.S. Women's Open start.
