S-17: Top 75 points leaders in the finalized Week 12 Rolex Women's Rankings on March 24
The Phoenix, Ariz., native and former standout at the University of South Carolina will make her fifth U.S. Women's Open start by virtue of being among the top 75 points leaders in the Rolex Rankings as of March 24. Although she's still seeking her maiden professional victory, Schmelzel was the runner-up in the 2024 Blue Bay LPGA in the People's Republic of China for a career-best finish. She also finished third in the 2022 LPGA Drive On Championship. Schmelzel played at Arizona prep powerhouse Xavier Prep, capturing the 2011 Arizona high school individual title, before moving on to play at South Carolina. She won one tournament for the Gamecocks and was named honorable-mention All-America as a senior in 2016. She turned professional the following year. She was a membrer of the victorious 2024 USA Solheim Cup Team.
