A year after the former Kansas State senior All-American won the Augusta National Women's Amateur to automatically qualify for the U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills, the Spaniard earned her way into the 2026 field by sharing medalist honors at Streamsong (Fla.) Resort. Bernat Escuder posted 7-under-par 139 to share the top spot with Peiyun Chien. Bernat Escuder held off 2024 U.S. Women's Open co-low amateur Asterisk Talley to win the Augusta National Women's Amateur. She won seven times in college, three during her first two seasons at Tulane University, and four more times at Kansas State. She transferred to the Manhattan campus when her coach at Tulane, Stu Burke, was hired by the Big 12 school. She was named the American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year as a sophomore at Tulane in 2023. In 2024, Bernat Escuder claimed the individual title at the Spirit International in Texas. She also represented the International side in the 2024 Palmer Cup held at Lahinch in the Republic of Ireland. Bernat Escuder grew up in Castellon, Spain, and worked with Victor Garcia, the father of Masters champion Sergio Garcia. She also was neighbors with 2024 U.S. Amateur champion Jose Luis Ballester. She turned professional last summer, and she currently competes on the Epson Tour.
