The former UCLA All-American not only registered her first LPGA Tour victory in February at the Honda LPGA Thailand, but two months later she defeated fellow Southern California native Angel Yin in a sudden-death playoff at the Chevron Championship for her first major title. Vu rolled in a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole on the Nicklaus Course at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. She birdied the 71st and 72nd holes in regulation to reach 10 under par, a mark Yin matched with her own birdie on the final hole of regulation. Vu won three times on the Epson Tour in 2021 to finish No. 1 on the money list and gain her LPGA Tour card for the 2022 season, and finished in the top 30 on the Race to the CME Globe. As an amateur, Vu was a member of the victorious 2018 USA Curtis Cup Team. She also played on the 2018 USA Women's World Amateur and Palmer Cup Teams. At UCLA, she was named the 2018 Pacific-12 Conference Player of the Year. This will be her third U.S. Women's Open start.
