Choi nearly became the second amateur to win the U.S. Women’s Open in 2017 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., dueling countrywoman Sung Hyun Park on the final day before finishing as the runner-up, two strokes back. Since turning professional at the end of 2017, Choi has amassed 11 victories on the Korean LPGA Tour. She also won a pair of KLPGA events as an amateur in 2017. Her stellar amateur career included helping Korea to a silver medal in the 2014 Asian Games. She also helped Korea finish third in the 2014 World Amateur Team Championship. Choi advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 U.S. Girls’ Junior at The Ridgewood Country Club, losing to Andrea Lee. This will be her sixth U.S. Women's Open start.
