Answers to frequently asked questions about volunteering for the 2026 U.S. Women's Open.

Volunteer registration is now open! Please click here to register. Volunteer applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions, please contact the Championship Office at 2026uswomensopen@usga.org.

Youth volunteers have the opportunity to participate in our Standard Bearers committee.  These volunteers must be between the ages of 14 and 21. The Standard Bearer committee will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and will become available in the winter of 2025.

Our volunteer apparel package includes one (1) Peter Millar golf polo shirt, one (1) Peter Millar quarter–zip layer, and one (1) piece of headwear, either a baseball hat or visor. Additionally, volunteers will receive an accessory package, including one (1) championship logoed compliant water bottle, one (1) championship logoed compliant bag, and one (1) logoed championship collector’s pin.

Peter Millar size guides are provided at the point of size selection during registration.

The general volunteer apparel is currently being designed.  Once finalized, samples will be provided on the volunteer website.

Volunteers within the continental U.S. will be shipped their apparel. Dates and times for apparel distribution for volunteers outside of the continental U.S. will be provided as we get closer to the championship.

Volunteers can update their shipping address via their volunteer account by navigating to “Contact Info/Availability”. Please ensure to select ‘Update’ at the bottom of the page to save your changes. If you need assistance, contact the Championship Office at 2026uswomensopen@usga.org.

There will be an opportunity for volunteers to exchange their apparel for another size.  The date(s), time and location are still TBD.  More information will become available once apparel is distributed.

You are required to wear the apparel you purchased while volunteering.  All components of the volunteer apparel were designed exclusively for the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open volunteer program and are not for sale to those who do not participate as a volunteer.

Volunteers are required to wear khaki, white, or grey bottoms while volunteering.  Women are permitted to wear golf skorts.

We ask that you wear comfortable shoes, since a majority of volunteers will be standing for long periods of time. Tennis shoes, for example, would be fine. Metal spikes are not permitted.

All volunteer committee assignments will be final once made available. We will attempt to assign each volunteer to one of his or her committee preferences; however, in many cases this will not be possible due to the requests for certain committees greatly outnumbering the staffing requirements of the committees.  If the committee preferences you selected are full, we will assign you to another committee that still has availability.

The exact parking locations are still being determined and will be released in the spring of 2026. There will be complimentary shuttles running continuously from each parking lot to the course. Volunteers will receive complimentary parking on days they are assigned to a shift.

Registered volunteers will have the opportunity to purchase up to two (2) good-any-day tickets at a discounted rate to share with family and friends. However, you may purchase additional tickets at any time at www.uswomensopen.com/tickets.

Unfortunately, there are none at this time.

The 2026 U.S. Women’s Open Volunteer Program requires volunteers to fulfill a minimum of three (3) shifts throughout Championship week, ranging from five (5) – seven (7) hours. Certain committee requirements may vary, and if applicable, will be shared upon your committee assignment.

The 2026 U.S. Women’s Open Championship will require the assistance of more than 1,600 volunteers serving on 13 different committees. These committees cover a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including but not limited to: Marshaling, On-Course Operations, Scoring Functions, Fan Services, and Merchandising. A full list with brief descriptions can be found here.

Volunteers will complete their availability for the week of the Championship at the point of registration. We will ask volunteers to confirm this availability in early 2026 and begin creating volunteer schedules using the availability provided.  You will be notified of your schedule in the Spring of 2026.  As always, we will make every effort to accommodate your availability preferences; however, we cannot guarantee that each request will be granted.

If you wish to work alongside family or friends, please ensure that you have selected the same committee preferences and availability at the point of registration. As well as indicate the preference to work with someone in the text box labeled “If you wish to work with others, enter their names here”. We are unable to accommodate work with preferences for those on different committees due to conflicting shift times. If you are placed on different committees at the point of committee assignments, please contact the Championship Office at 2026uswomensopen@usga.org, and we will do our best to accommodate.

Training sessions will take place in May of 2026.  Most training will be virtual, however some onsite training will be required based on your committee assignment. A presentation on both general volunteer and committee specific responsibilities will be shared with you in the Spring of 2026.

Generally, the biggest misconception about volunteering for the U.S. Women’s Open Championship is the timeframe in which an individual can register to volunteer. Since it is such a large event, the planning process begins years in advance of the championship. Volunteer registration will begin in the summer of 2025 when the application will be available online. For more information, please contact the USGA Championship Office at 2026uswomensopen@usga.org.

As is the case with most major golf events, there will be a fee associated with the volunteer package for the U.S. Women’s Open. The fee does prove to be a worthwhile investment for someone who is not only interested in participating as a volunteer but is also interested in having the ability to attend the championship on a daily basis. The cost of volunteering covers the actual cost of the volunteer apparel specifically designed for the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open Championship, meal vouchers for each shift a volunteer is scheduled to volunteer and includes a credential valid for all days of the championship. The credential will serve as a ticket for admissions any day of the championship regardless of whether or not the volunteer is assigned to a shift.

As an integral part of the championship, volunteers are given the opportunity to communicate through day-to-day interactions with USGA staff or by completing a survey during and after the championship. In most cases, the results and comments are very positive. Often, volunteers will echo their sentiments towards the unique experience volunteering afforded them during the week of the championship and how exciting it was to be actively involved as part of such a historic event. In some instances, volunteers will provide constructive feedback on how to improve the volunteer experience. USGA staff thoroughly reads through each survey and takes into consideration all of the feedback, good and bad, in order to improve the volunteer program and experience for future championships.
