Qualifying Sites Set for 81st U.S. Women's Open

Qualifying sites for the 81st U.S. Women’s Open Championship Presented by Ally, which will be held June 4-7 at The Riviera Country Club, in Pacific Palisades, Calif., have been announced by the USGA. This will be the first U.S. Women’s Open held at the club and the first in championship history staged in Greater Los Angeles.

Conducted over 36 holes, qualifying will be held at 26 sites across the United States, along with one each in Canada, England and Japan between April 20 and May 13. Online entry applications open today, and will continue through Wednesday, April 1, at 5 p.m. EDT (champs.usga.org).

“The USGA is grateful for the collaboration between the Allied Golf Associations, international federations and professional tours that make qualifying possible,” said USGA Chief Championships Officer John Bodenhamer. “These organizations provide thousands of professional and amateur golfers around the world an opportunity to compete in the most prestigious championship in women’s golf. We are excited to bring this storied event to Los Angeles for the first time and deliver an outstanding experience for the game’s greatest players.”

Sugar Mill Country Club, in New Smyrna Beach Fla., will host U.S. Women’s Open qualifying for the eighth time. Shannopin Country Club, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Walnut Creek Golf Preserve, in Westminster, Colo., will each serve as sites for the seventh time, with the latter hosting for the third consecutive year. Arizona Country Club, in Phoenix, Ariz., will host for the sixth time. The Vancouver Country Club, in British Columbia, Canada, will serve as a qualifying site for the fourth consecutive year, while New Albany (Ohio) Country Club will host for the third consecutive year. Boso Country Club, in Chiba Prefecture, Japan will be an international qualifying site for the fifth consecutive year.

Of the 17 states that will host a U.S. Women’s Open qualifier, California will host the most with four, followed by Florida (3) and Texas (2).

Birdie Kim is the last player to win the U.S. Women’s Open (2005) after advancing through qualifying. In 2025, 11 golfers who advanced through qualifying made the 36-hole cut in the Women’s Open at Erin Hills, in Erin, Wis. Hailee Cooper, who shot a 3-under-par 285 and tied for seventh, led all qualifiers.

The USGA accepted 1,904 entries for the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills, the second-highest total in championship history. The record of 2,107 entries was set at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links.

This will be the 95th USGA championship and sixth U.S. Women’s Open contested in the state of California. The Golden State last hosted a U.S. Women’s Open in 2023, when Allisen Corpuz recorded a three-stroke victory over Charley Hull and Jiyai Shin at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
